Oaky dokey

Well it's the middle of February and I've been very bad at this blogging lark. Life's been hectic, ruddy hard work and downright soul destroying but there's been a few bits of better news recently so I'm working on those positive vibes.

We've had a lot of people round to quote for a new downstairs loo, a new kitchen and a new boiler.....the prices have been eye opening and we've had some major decisions to make. The boiler work is booked in, the downstairs loo will have to do for now and I'm going to do the kitchen myself......gulp!!

So in true "me" style I've been thinking of the "pretties" before worrying how I'm going to level the floor, fit units etc etc. I decided I'd like a little folding table, something pretty but useful for the 4 of us but something that closed down and sat nicely out the way when we don't need it.....I had a hunt on eBay and found a lovely battered oak gate leg table with barley twist legs....it was local and cheap so I snapped it up and got to work.

The top was sanded to remove the nasty dark varnish and the oak beneath just begged for a few coats of varnish to reveal its true colour. The legs were undercoated lightly before 2 coats of a chalk finish paint.

I love it!
