Getting ready for winter....

Yes, yes, I know it's mid summer and I shouldn't be thinking about the cold winter evenings but I can't help it - I'm a winter bunny.

I learnt to crochet squares when I was little, everyone had given up trying to teach me to knit (I'm a leftie and very cack-handed) but my Nan sat patiently teaching me the joys of crochet.  Over the years I've never really made much - a few small baby blankets, mostly small squares that I've patchworked together....

So this has been my biggest crochet piece so far....it's taken about a month (on and off between "life").  The wool was all unpicked from cardi's and shawls that my Mum had knitted for the girls over the years, I couldn't bear to throw it out and this will bring lots of happy memories for years to come.
So roll on winter, I can't wait to use it!

  1. Lovely blanket! I've just finished a small one (pic on my blog). I'm getting very addicted now and can't seem to watch t.v. unless I am crocheting a square! I'm left handed too. xx

  2. It's brilliant, and so lovely that the recycled wool will hold so many memories, what a good idea! Learning to crochet is next on my (long) list...
